Swan Christian College

During the 2022 summer break, Swan Christian College's Property Services team undertook extensive construction and upgrade works across campus, including major improvements to Junior and Senior Schools, despite delays from a train derailment, to enhance student learning spaces for the 2023 academic year.

As the 2022 school year ended and things began to slow down for the summer break, the Swan Christian College Property Services team ramped up its operations in carrying out significant construction works across the College in preparation for the 2023 school year.

All of these works are being carried out to improve the learning spaces for students.

In the Junior School, the following works were completed to C, D, E and F blocks:

– Airconditioning system upgrades throughout.
– Installation of LED lighting throughout.
– Major electrical infrastructure upgrades and futureproofing in preparation for works taking place in 2023 and 2024.

In Senior School, significant works were undertaken in Q-block:

– The entire block was stripped and all package and evaporative air-conditioners were removed off the roof and the roof was replaced.
– New ceilings were installed throughout.
– Daikin Cassette air-conditioners were installed in every class with linear supplied fresh air.
– Electrical upgrades across the block, including the installation of LED lighting.
– Installation of anodised electrical skirting duct for all computer rooms and teaching classes along the face brick walls.
– Installation of new interactive smart boards.
– Development and installation of new front-of-classroom learning walls with AV, HDMI, USB connectivity and more.

Operations were temporarily delayed as the train derailment significantly affected the project as materials and the air-conditioners sat stagnant in the middle of the outback. The shipment was delivered late in the afternoon on Friday, 23 December.

As many enjoyed the festivities of the Christmas and new year break, our teams worked around the clock throughout the Christmas and new years break to ensure that the project stayed on track.

These upgrades and maintenance work form an integral part of significant construction works that will be taking place at the College over the coming year.

Interesting facts about the project:

– Supply and installation of 25 Daikin air-conditioning units including the installation of fresh air intake to meet Australian standards.
– 6 Major Switchboard upgrades.
– Installation of 338 Internal Lights.
– Installation of 37 External Lights.
– Installation of more than 800m of Copper Pipework.
– Installation of more than 7130m of Cabling.
– Installation of over 150 power points
– Installation of over 150 data points.
